Dan Stevens to Play ‘Robocop’ in New Prime Video Collection!
I’d purchase that for a greenback!
Large information this morning, as Deadline experiences that Dan Stevens (pictured above in Abigail) has signed on to play the title character of RoboCop in Prime Video’s new collection!
That’s proper. Stevens is ready to play Alex Murphy, aka Robocop, a justice-dealing cyborg.
The collection can be eight episodes and has been in improvement since Amazon acquired MGM in 2022.
Right here’s the official synopsis:
“An enormous tech conglomerate convinces the town to put a robust robotic on its police pressure – a robotic implanted with the consciousness of a beloved, fallen officer.”
Peter Ocko will write, showrun, and government produce the collection.
Government producers embody James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, Ed Neumeier, co-creator and co-writer of the unique Robocop movie, and Danielle Bozzone of Blumhouse Atomic Monster, who will co-executive produce and oversee the mission for the corporate. Amazon MGM Studios will produce.
Launched in 1987 by sensible filmmaker Paul Verhoeven, Robocop stays certainly one of my all-time favourite motion motion pictures. Between Verhoeven’s insightful commentary on our violence-obsessed tradition and Peter Weller’s pitch-perfect portrayal of a person who has was a machine, the movie has stood the check of time and is extra related than ever.
Sequels, TV reveals, comics, video video games, and a not-so-great 2014 reboot have all stomped onto the scene since. The Robocop franchise has a legion of followers, and I do know I converse for all of us once I say I hope the filmmakers can recapture a little bit of the magic from that first movie launched all these years in the past. We don’t need one other ED-209 right here.
With Stevens within the function, I out of the blue have an entire lot of confidence that received’t be the case. The person is an outstanding actor, in a position to slip into nearly any function and grow to be no matter character he’s taking part in. The Visitor, Abigail, Cuckoo, and the upcoming Onslaught…he’s a spotlight of all of them. I’d wager something he nails the function of Robocop and provides us an Alex Murphy that’s each charming and fairly a bit intimidating.
Lifeless or alive, I’m able to associate with this collection.
